The Fountain of Wealth is considered the largest fountain in the world, specifically; in 1998 it was recognized by the Guinness Book Of World Records as the largest fountain in the world. It is located in the hub of one of the largest shopping centres in Singapore, the Suntec City. And it is one of the most visited places in the country.
The fountain was built in 1995. It occupies an area of almost 1,700 square metres and with a height about 14 metres, although the water thrown into the air reaches a height of 30 metres. It was built following the Feng Shui doctrine. Its impressive structure consists of a huge circular ring supported by four columns. It is made of 85 tonnes of silicon bronze.
For Chinese culture, water symbolizes wealth and life. And the harmonious combination of water and metal attracts success.
During certain periods of the day, the Fountain of Wealth is turned off so Singaporeans and tourists are able to walk around a smaller fountain located in the centre. And it is also claimed that if this is done between 4 and 6 am for nine days in a row, good lucks and wealth will be attract for a longer period of time.
At night the Fountain of Wealth offers spectacular laser performances and live music. Precisely, one of the special features of the fountain is that it lets visitors do song and laser message dedications.
