Merlion Park

At the luxury hotel in Alicante Asia Gardens Hotel & Thai Spa we never get tired of discovering all the wonders of Southeast Asia. Precisely, today we are travelling to Singapore to visit the amazing Merlion Park.

Merlion Park is one of the most beautiful spots to contemplate Singapore in all its splendour. It is located under the skyscrapers of the bay and by the seashore. It is home to the national symbol: the Merlion statue.

Half fish and half lion, Merlion is Singapore´s tourist symbol par excellence. The lion head symbolizes the lion that Prince Sang Nila Utama discovered when he rediscovered Singapore in the 11th century. While the fish tail is a tribute to the historic role of Singapore as an ancient maritime city.

At Merlion Park, we find two statues of Merlion, a small one and a huge one, of over 8 metres high. This last one is the most famous statue and spouts water from its mouth to the bay.

Merlion Park can be visited at any time of the day, but we suggest you to do it at night to contemplate the skyscrapers illuminated; an unforgettable postcard for your mind.

If you are thinking about visiting the 5 stars resort Asia Gardens Hotel & Thai Spa, during your visit you will be able to choose between the 7 spectacular outer pools of the hotel. How can reject swimming in Southeast Asia in the Mediterranean?
