ATAURO ISLAND: A PARADISE BACK IN TIME

Atauro Island is a small island in East Timor, South East Asia, located about 25 km north of Dili, the capital.

Atauro means “goat” in the local language, and it is also known as Kambing Island (or Pulau Kambing) by the Indonesians. There are a significant number of goats there, hence its name.

This island has the most pristine water ever, and one of the most untouched coral reefs in the Indian-Pacific. However, there is only room for about fifty people on the island, which makes it rather exclusive and unavailable to most tourists.
