Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park

Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park is a park in Yamanashi, Shizuoka and Kanagawa Prefectures, and Tokyo Metropolis. It consists of Mount Fuji, Fuji Five Lakes, Hakone, the Izu Peninsula and the Izu Islands. This is the most visited Japanese national park.
The park was established on February 2, 1936 as Fuji-Hakone National Park. It was one of the first national parks in Japan. In 1950, the Izu Islands were added to the park, and its name changed to Fuji Hakone Izu.
Among its main attractions we find Shiraito Falls, a waterfall in Shizuoka Prefecture, near to Mount Fuji; and Lake Tanuki, located near to Mount Fuji too.
Hakone Volcano is also one of the most characteristic spots in Fuji Hakone Izu. This is an ancient volcano known for its crater lake, Lake Ashi, which offers a fascinating landscape.
Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park includes several museums, which let visitors discover this amazing natural wonders as well as the history of the park.
